buried... literally

You know how people use the word "buried" to imply they are extremely "busy". Well, first of all, "busy" is so overused. It means so many dang things - popular, over committed, lacking extra time, working long hours, having too much fun, etc, etc. And can we really not come up with a more eloquent way to say it? But that's a whole other subject. Don't get me started there.

Anyway, back to the point. I am using the word "buried" literally. Sure, it means I'm "busy", but really, it means my whole life is buried away in boxes.

If you don't see me, hear from me, or talk to me any time in the near future - you know why. I've been buried by my boxes. Oh, the joys of moving.

Camera being packed away = poor quality photos from phone.

Fremont, NE - a healing getaway

Two weeks ago, yesterday, I drove 520 miles to a small town called Fremont, Nebraska. Not a vacation hot spot? What are you talking about!? Here's a glimpse of my sweet vacation.

Boat rides galore. And my first time on a pontoon boat. I think I made the band, Little Big Town, happy.  (I may or may not be singing their song in my head this very moment...)

Waterskiing is hard to come by in Colorado but at least I got one good run in this year!

Nothing screams summer to me like bonfires and s'mores.

Time spent with amazing people - doesn't get much better than that.

And a big thank you to my gracious hosts, Mackenzie and her momma, Jennifer.

It's only been two weeks since I began this vacation and I already miss it terribly. There's something so healing about doing the things you love, with people you love. And there's something quite healing in the act of resting. You should try it sometime.

Well, my summer has quickly come to an end. Has yours? What was your summer highlight?

p.s. happy monday

oh and Mackenzie posted about my visit on her blog too - check it out here! She's a better writer so she captured our time together in more words!

how do I look?

What do you think? You like the new blog design? I do!

I decided the old blog design didn't really fit me. It gave you all a wrong impression of who I am. It's hard to articulate who you are in general - just in regular, ordinary, everyday life. It's even harder to articulate who you are through a display of images, words, and a URL.

I'm no blogging master and I'm still discovering my own blogging "identity" so I turned to a dear friend for help. My long time friend, Erika, over at Rouge & Whimsy, knows me personally and knows my new found desire for blogging. She is a fashionista to the core and she is the one who made my blog look this good. Check out her blog here because she's legit!

So please, a big round of applause for Erika!

This is Erika and me from our high school/early college days! Don't we look young?

On another note, my life is spastic right now. I care about my blog, but to be honest, there's a lot going on right now that I care about more. I just started school this week, YoungLife is ramping back up full throttle, I'm meeting new people, and I'm moving in a week. Not to mention, most of my kitchen is packed up already and my crafting gear put away, leaving me incapable of any new creations. All that to say, I have a lot I want to tell you about but so little time - please, oh pretty please, be patient with me!

it's been awhile - happy monday

Hello friends.

Did you miss me? I'm sorry I neglected you. I was a little too caught up in relaxing and enjoying summer. More to come on that later.

Today is Monday. Today is happy. Today is exciting. Today is a new adventure. Today I am starting my graduate program.

That's all I really wanted to share with you for now. I'll share more later but first I need to get my bearings on how to be a student again.

p.s. today is also a happy Monday because the Seahawks beat the Broncos in their preseason game this past weekend. I'm a fan of both teams but my allegiance remains with my hometown team! Go Hawks!

happy monday

The Olympics. Need I say more?

Based on Facebook status posts, I know I'm not the only one glued to my television and staying up past my normal bed time.

Gymnastics. Swimming. Volleyball. The list goes on but I'm officially obsessed.

These women are incredible. Go USA and Go Women!

Despite getting less sleep and neglecting my daily to-do's, the olympics have made me very happy. They are so unifying. We are all cheering for the same team and I think that's awesome.

Now, time to go work out and get a body like theirs!
